Conceived by Claire Fischer and fabricated according to her childhood memory, this slightly undersized replica of a JCPenney fitting room was installed in my studio entryway, blocking access to and replacing my studio’s interior. After deinstallation, Claire instructed that the work be demolished, like the Lincoln Mall in Matteson, IL, where her favorite JCPenney used to be housed.
